A Journey of Hope: Deanna’s Story with Jaylin
Deanna and her 16-year-old daughter, Jaylin, who has faced numerous challenges due to Cornelia de Lange syndrome.
Deanna's journey is a powerful reminder of the incredible possibilities that can emerge when we find the right support.
Born with significant developmental delays, severe ADHD, and constant movement—even while she slept!
For the past ten years, she experienced 6 to 8 seizures each year.
As a result,
Jaylin required constant supervision. Think of her as a big toddler: she struggled with coordination, impulse control, and often had combative moments. Bedtime was a nightly battle that could take hours, leaving Deanna exhausted.
Jaylin is homeschooled with a tutor twice a week, and to help her focus during those sessions, Deanna had to rely on ADHD medication. It was a routine that felt necessary, but it also felt limiting.
Then everything began to change.
After using stem cell patches for about two weeks, Deanna had a remarkable experience on a tutoring day, which usually meant chaos.
To her surprise, she found Jaylin sitting at the table with her work organized, a snack ready, and engrossed in a book!
Normally, getting her to read required a lot of coaxing, but there she was, quietly flipping through the pages without fidgeting.
In that moment,
Deanna decided to skip Jaylin’s ADHD medication for the day. The tutor was equally amazed, noting that Jaylin's concentration was fantastic and that she was open to trying new things—a first for her!
Fast forward a couple of months, and Deanna stopped giving Jaylin her ADHD meds altogether.
The results were nothing short of astounding: Jaylin’s concentration improved so much that her academic level skyrocketed by four grades! Before the patches, she was functioning at a kindergarten level, and now she was thriving.
But that’s not all—Jaylin became less combative and more self-sufficient. She started organizing her own things and even managed to get herself to bed without any drama.
And perhaps most importantly, she experienced no seizures in a six-month period.
Deanna's heart is full as she looks forward to watching Jaylin become more independent.
This journey has not just been about managing symptoms; it’s about unlocking potential and embracing new possibilities.
Deanna’s story is a beautiful reminder that change is possible, even in the face of long-standing challenges.
If you or someone you know is searching for hope and solutions, take inspiration from Jaylin’s journey.
Sometimes, the smallest changes can lead to the most incredible transformations.
